Description
This an early Edo period blue white wine cup. The ceramic is softer than porcelain, which is classic early Edo period. According to history, Japanese potters were not able to produce hard paste porcelain. After bringing skilled potters from Korea in 16 century, it changed Japanese pottery history: Japanese potters started learning how to produce hard paste porcelain. The cup is lighter than hard paste porcelain.The dragon motifs are also indicative of the period.
It’s in good antique condition, no cracks.
