    History of these coins:
During the later period of the Roman empire Christianity began to replace paganism.  This change
was reflected in Roman coinage.  Gone were the images of emperors replaced instead with images of Jesus Christ and religious inscriptions called "Christo grams".  The reverse side of the coin offered here carries a typical Christo gram:
    ISXS BASILE BASILE
"Jesus Christ, King of Kings".  These coins represent significant change in the world's religious direction and have become highly collectible.
There are some 16 Classifications for these coins.  Each Class is distinguished by its markings, size,
and weight.  The coin offered here is classed as a "B" and has the following characteristics:
Bs are attributed to the reign of Romanus III (1028-1034 AD)
Most of these were minted in Constantinople.
    Obv. Christ bust. IC-XC (
    Jesus Christ
    ) on sides.  With

in each limb of nimbus cross and pellet in each quarter.  Gospels ornamented with ꞉∙꞉ design and
    +ЄMAN NOVHΛ
    on right and left.
Rv. Cross on three steps with pellet at each extremity.  Inscription in three lines: IC to left, XC to right in field above transverse limbs of cross and bAS - ILE  /  bAS - ILE below (
    Jesus Christ, King of Kings
    ).
Anonymous Folles minted under the reign of various emperors include:
