Description

Up for bid is a specimen from the famous Koashva quarry in Russia’s Kola Peninsula. This was sold as a Villiaumite daylight specimen but the Matrix is what interests the fluorescent mineral collectors. This specimen is about half Sodalite which fluoresces bright Orange under all wavelengths of UV light. Some of the Sodalite has altered to Hackmanite which fluoresces white under SW and MW UV and is also phosphorescent and Tenebrescent. The Hackmanite is intermixed with the Sodalite so its White fluorescence is drowned out by the Orange fluorescence of the Sodalite. You can differentiate the Hackmanite from the Sodalite thru its phosphorescence and tenebrescence. Please note that Villiaumite, or a mineral associated with it, is sensitive to moisture so specimen is best stored in a plastic bag with a desiccant.
This is an exceptional specimen that came from my personal collection. First picture is under SW UV, second picture is under MW UV, third picture is under LW UV, fourth picture is under white light and shows tenebrescence and fifth picture is under white light and shows specimen before exposure to UV.

Domestic Shipping
For domestic shipping I generally use Fed Exp Ground for heavier and more expensive items, and US Postal Service Priority Mail for lighter and less expensive items. Both services have door to door tracking and full insurance. If you have a shipping preference please let me know. If the shipping service I use costs less than eBay charges, I will refund any excess. I only charge actual shipping costs with no extra charges for packing or shipping materials and will gladly combine shipments. If the combined shipping doesn’t work for some reason, I will refund any excess shipping.
International Shipping
I use US Postal Service Priority mail for all international shipments. Please note that due to a lack of international flights, many overseas shipments are going by boat instead of air. This can add a month or more to delivery times. Purchase at your own risk.
