Miller Canyon Fluorescent 3 Color: NJ-138 Willemite Smithsonite Sphalerite

Description

Dense piece of Willemite with a patch of raspberry red Smithsonite on one face. This one gets its 3rd color from a strong showing of deep golden Sphalerite that really pops under LW with good phosphorescence as well.

I just unpacked some rocks that I collected at Miller Canyon years ago. There is a mix of medium to large size pieces and I will be happy to combine shipping using Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes. I'll mix in smaller sizes now and then which may be better for some collections and have less expensive shipping. I used to sell under the account name catenaya in case you recognize my listing format.
The Nelly James prospect is an amazing source of fluorescent minerals and the most frequent combinations include orange/red Calcite and bright green Willemite. The next minerals you might see are blue Hydrozincite and Smithsonite that ranges from deep red to pink to violet.  The colors, hues and patterns that can combine from some or all of these 4 minerals are what make Miller rocks special.  A less common mineral that can also appear is yellow Powellite.  All five of these minerals react with a short wave (254 nm) lamp, but

is also known for a deep orange to golden Sphalerite, which is a long wave (365 nm) fluorescent and phosphorescent mineral.
A key thing to understand if you want to enjoy this hobby is that you will need to invest in a quality UV lamp with at least 10-15 Watts of power and a good filter if you want the rocks you collect to look as nice in person as they do in pictures online.  Naturally, the more powerful the lamp(s), the brighter the rocks will fluoresce.  Unfortunately, ‘black lights’ and inexpensive battery powered lights will not produce the results you want.

SHIPPING & INSURANCE

Shipping is through USPS and will be either First Class Package or Priority Flat Rate, depending on the weight, and a tracking number will be included.  Insurance, if desired, is available at cost on USPS shipments, just let me know if you want to add it before you make payment.  Item(s) damaged in transit are subject to the shipping carrier’s insurance claims process.  If insurance is declined, the buyer is responsible for any damage or loss.  I will ship your items as promptly as possible, usually within two business days.  I am willing to combine shipping on multiple items as long as they can be safely packed together.  I do not charge handling or boxing fees unless the item is fragile or oversize.
RETURN POLICY
: This is not returnable, sorry, but I describe the items to the best of my ability and will always work with you if there is a problem.  I recommend insuring your shipment so there is some recourse for items damaged in transit.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
: Customs, import fees and VAT fees are the responsibility of the buyer.  Insurance is highly recommended, as I am not responsible for the package once it leaves my hands.
