    Description

Pair of Japanese Kakiemon porcelain globular form vases decorated around the mid-section in colorful overglaze polychrome enamels with alternating flowers and symbols set against a milky white “nigoshide” ground.  Each is signed on the base in underglaze blue by Sakaida Kakiemon XIV (1934-2013).  The artist was designated a Living National Treasure of Japan in 2001.  Each vase measures just over 3 1/4” high x about 3 3/4” diameter.  The signed wood tomobako presentation boxes measure 4 3/4" square x 4 1/4" high.  Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.  There are some water stains on the wood presentation boxes.
